Overview

How our fixed-fee accounting pricing works.

Accountaire uses fixed-fee accounting pricing rather than hourly billing. Four plans cover most SMEs: Starter at $500 a month, Growth at $900, Professional at $1,500, and Enterprise scoped to the entity. The fee is agreed against a written scope before work starts, and it moves only when the scope does.

Hourly billing creates the wrong incentive on both sides. It rewards the slow month, it makes clients hesitate before asking a question that might turn into an invoice, and it makes the cost of the finance function impossible to budget. A fixed fee moves the risk of an inefficient month onto us, which is where it belongs, and it means a call in the middle of the month costs nothing to make.

What sits outside the monthly fee is stated rather than buried. Catch-up bookkeeping is quoted separately at a flat $200 per month of books cleared, because it is finite work with a defined end. Company incorporation is a one-off engagement. New sales tax or VAT registrations are quoted per registration. Whether you need one at all is set by the authority rather than by us: HMRC publishes when UK VAT registration becomes compulsory, and the UAE Federal Tax Authority publishes its own VAT registration rules. Software licences (Xero, QuickBooks, A2X, Dext) stay in your name and are billed by those vendors, so you keep the subscriptions if you ever leave. The obligations on both sides are set out in our full engagement terms and conditions.

Choosing a tier is mostly a question of transaction volume and whether payroll and reporting are in scope. Starter suits a solopreneur under 100 transactions a month. Growth adds payroll and quarterly VAT or sales tax filing up to 400 transactions. Professional adds monthly management accounts and a dedicated lead accountant up to 1,500. Enterprise is where multi-entity consolidation and fractional CFO work come in. If you pick the wrong one, we tell you at the scoping call rather than after the first invoice. The full accounting services directory shows what each service covers. Longer explanations of the filings each plan covers are on the Accountaire blog.

How we bill.

Are there setup or onboarding fees?
No. Onboarding is included in your first month. The line between onboarding and catch-up is whether the ledger already balances. If opening balances have to be rebuilt, or the outgoing accountant holds the records in a desktop file, that is clean-up work rather than setup. Expect a short wait at the start either way: professional clearance goes to your previous accountant first, and their reply time is not ours to set.
What if I exceed my transaction limit?
We'll talk to you. A one-month spike, we absorb. Structural growth, we recommend a tier change, usually a $200–$400/mo step. You're never blind-charged for overage.
Do you require an annual contract?
No. Monthly billing, 30-day cancellation notice. We do offer one month free if you commit to annual, but it's entirely optional.
How do you handle currency?
We invoice in USD, GBP, AED, CAD or AUD. Your choice. Payment via Wise or bank transfer. Toggle this page's display currency from the Tweaks panel.
What if you raise rates?
Existing clients are price-locked for 12 months from sign-up. We give 60 days' notice on any renewal change, with the option to adjust scope to stay on the same fee.
What is not included in the monthly fee?
Catch-up work on historic books, one-off incorporation, new tax registrations in a state or country, statutory audit (which has to be performed by a separately licensed firm), and third-party software licences. Each of those is quoted or billed separately and named in the engagement letter, so nothing arrives as a surprise line on an invoice.
Can I move between plans mid-year?
Moves run in either direction, effective from the start of the following month. We flag it ourselves when volumes have moved enough to justify a change rather than letting you drift over a limit and charging for overage. A downgrade needs the same 30 days' notice as cancellation.
