Our approach

Why we built a remote accounting firm this way.

The firm works with small and mid-sized businesses in the United Kingdom, United States, United Arab Emirates, Canada and Australia. The company was incorporated on 8 September 2022 under registration number 0210374, trades as Accountaire (SMC-Private) Limited, and delivers bookkeeping, payroll, tax and advisory work on fixed monthly fees.

The traditional accounting model (partners, juniors, hourly time-sheets, quarterly check-ins) wasn't built for businesses that move quickly or work across borders. It produces reports too late to act on, charges by the hour for tasks that should be automated, and locks clients into proprietary systems they don't own.

We started with a different brief. Modern software has gone global, so qualified accountants can serve clients anywhere. Intelligent automation handles the routine, so qualified people can focus on judgment. Service standards are written into the contract, so clients know exactly what they're getting.

The result is a firm that pairs senior, ACCA-qualified accountants with a modern technology stack: delivering bookkeeping, payroll, tax and advisory work that feels, finally, like the rest of the software you use to run your business.

Remote-first is a delivery decision with practical consequences, not a slogan. Your records stay in your own Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent subscription rather than a system we own, so nothing is held hostage if you leave. Work runs to written service levels: books closed by the fifth business day, replies inside four working hours on the tiers where that applies. Fees are published up front on the fixed-fee pricing page rather than quoted on application. The work itself is described service by service in our accounting services directory, and the way we read the rules behind it is on show in the guides we publish on the Accountaire blog.

Each engagement is set out in the complete accounting service list, and country by country for the UK, the US, the UAE, Canada and Australia. The company details below, including the planned UK entity at Companies House, are on the record so you can check them before you engage.

Day to day, an engagement looks like this. One senior accountant owns the relationship and is named in the engagement letter. Work happens in your accounting software, with a shared drive for workpapers and Slack or email for everything else. Month end runs to a fixed sequence, and the pack lands with commentary rather than as a bare export. Questions asked mid-month cost nothing to ask, because nothing here is billed by the hour. If the answer is that you need a specialist we are not, we say so.

How we work

Four principles we won't compromise on.

PRINCIPLE 01

Qualified people, every engagement.

Every senior on this team is ACCA-qualified, with continuing professional development maintained annually. Trust starts with verifiable expertise, not marketing copy.

PRINCIPLE 02

You own your data.

Your books live in your own Xero or QuickBooks subscription. We never hold records inside proprietary software. If you leave, you keep everything.

PRINCIPLE 03

SLAs are written, not pitched.

Five business days to close. Four hours to respond. Both appear in every engagement letter. We measure ourselves against them, publicly.

PRINCIPLE 04

Automation augments. Never replaces.

AI handles pattern matching, OCR, categorisation, draft commentary. Every output is reviewed by a qualified human before it reaches you.

Team

Who you actually work with.

A small, senior team, not a call-centre. Every engagement is led by an ACCA-qualified accountant who knows your business by name and number.

Questions about the firm.

Who is Accountaire?
Accountaire (SMC-Private) Limited is a remote accounting firm incorporated on 8 September 2022 under registration number 0210374, with accounting consultancy as its principal activity. It is not a marketplace or a referral network. The accountant named on your engagement letter is the person who does the work, and the same team runs the monthly cycle in every market.
Where is Accountaire registered?
The operating company is registered under number 0210374 and trades as Accountaire (SMC-Private) Limited. A UK entity, Accountaire Ltd, is on the roadmap for Q1 2027 and is not incorporated at Companies House yet. The company information block above carries the full details to check.
Is there an office to visit, or is the firm fully remote?
Remote, by design. The work happens inside your own cloud ledger with scheduled calls rather than office visits, which is what lets one team run the same monthly process for clients in five markets.
How does Accountaire charge?
Fixed monthly fees, agreed against a written scope before any work starts. What matters more than the number is what happens when the scope moves: a second entity, a first payroll, a jurisdiction added in June. Those get re-quoted and agreed in writing rather than turning up as an adjustment on an invoice.
Which accounting software does Accountaire work in?
Nine platforms, and the rule behind that number is that we join your file rather than move you into ours. If you are running something outside the nine, raise it on the scoping call. We will either work in it or tell you plainly that a migration is the cheaper answer, before anything is signed.
What terms would I be signing up to?
An engagement letter that names the scope, the fee and the deliverables, read alongside the standard terms and conditions and the data processing agreement, both published in full on this site. The engagement letter prevails wherever the two conflict.
How quickly does Accountaire reply?
Written enquiries get a reply within four business hours of your local working day. A scoping call runs 30 minutes, and a written fixed-fee proposal follows within 24 hours of that call.
